Faye joined the lab in 2024, as a final-year Physiology undergraduate student at Trinity College Dublin. Physiology immediately piqued Faye's interest as she felt it was the branch of biology that encompasses all of life. From the fundamentals of cell function to complex physiological processes, Faye believed studying physiology was imperative in today's society. Throughout her academic pursuits, Faye's interest became particularly focused on neurodegenerative diseases. They affect millions of people worldwide yet cures and treatments remain so elusive. After completing projects on various neurodegenerative diseases in the past, the McMackin lab was the natural choice for Faye's capstone project. Faye investigated prefrontal and premotor control of the primary motor cortex using paired-pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation. Faye's ambition to make meaningful contributions to the field remains steadfast.Â
