Séamus O'Sullivan
In the summer of 2023, Séamus was awarded an HRB summer scholarship grant for a project in the McMackin Lab investigating the effect of muscle contraction on transcranial magnetic stimulation-derived measures of brain function. He later rejoined the lab to complete his final-year project as a Neuroscience undergraduate at Trinity College Dublin, using electroencephalography to investigate neural language network dysfunction in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and how this may relate to cognitive impairment. Séamus stayed on as a Research Assistant after completing his capstone project, working on analyses of several TMS- and EEG-based studies. His research interests are in neural data analysis, and the clinical applications of electrophysiology, such as the development of biomarkers for improved diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative disease.
